To Do List - Prioritize Your Efforts And Use It To Achieve More
To do list I don't know that I'm particularly a trendsetter. Or if I am an inventor. What I do know is that I seem to have an ability to adapt to circumstances and utilize well what is available at the time. At the time you don't feel particularly that you are doing anything out of the ordinary or evolutionary. But when you look back perhaps you can see that what you've done has helped others if only by the fact that they now a copy what you've done. One prime example is using a list as a memory jogger or help in prioritizing the things that I need to do. Perhaps this came easy to me in that I've always enjoyed writing and noting down things and for many years kept a diary of the things that I did, as a reminder.
So it was not particularly clever nor innovative to start to write down things that are needed to do [obviously before they're actually done!]. This started off in a pretty haphazard manner using bits of paper which easily got lost. I moved on to to using either larger sheets of paper or a note book to keep my records. I remember well that many of my work colleagues in particular used to take the mickey out of me because of my 'to do lists'. But I was not deterred and continued simply because I found them useful myself. So has this changed over the years? I still use pieces of paper to note down actions I need to take or to remind myself of different things. The big change is that previously I was the only person, or apparently the only person doing this, but now a everybody does it. Nobody now thinks twice about doing this or how strange it might appear to others because they are found its usefulness for themselves and that most everybody is now using this little technique and aid themselves. Moral: if you think something is useful continue doing it irrespective of what other people might think about you. All best, Martin
